We Need Your Help!
Plain License is a community-driven project, and we need your help to make it a success. Whether you’re a developer, a lawyer, a writer, or just someone who cares about clear language, there are many ways you can pitch in.
Ways to Help
Commit to Plain License
If you want to contribute to our site, you should learn about our commit message format. This helps us track changes and find them later. If that sounds too complicated, don’t worry! You can still help with licenses, translations, writing, and more without knowing how to code. Check out the other sections below, or post on our discussions ➚ page if you have questions. You can also contact us directly.
Recraft or Improve Licenses
We want to make more licenses available in plain language. We call this process recrafting because it takes real work and skill to get it right!
Translate Licenses
We want to make our licenses available in as many languages as possible. You can help by translating licenses.

Write for Us
We want all of our content to be as easy to understand as possible. We need your help. Read our plain writing tips to get started.
Provide Legal Feedback
If you are a lawyer or legal expert, we would love to hear your feedback on our licenses and your ideas for improvement.
Contribute to the Site
If you have ideas for improving our site, we would love to hear them. You can open an issue ➚ on GitHub, join our discussions ➚, or jump right in. For many parts of our site, you don’t need to know how to code to make changes. We use simple Markdown files that anyone can learn.
Donate
We are a small team (of one, for now) and we could use your help to expand our mission. You can donate time, money, or resources to help us grow.
Spread the Word
We want to reach as many people as possible with our mission to make licenses accessible. You can help by telling your friends, family, and colleagues about Plain License. You can also share our site on social media or write about us on your blog.
